What is a PET scan?
Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is an
advanced imaging technology that provides
physicians with unique diagnostic information that can better assist the physician in
the management of a patient's disease and reduce the overall cost of patient care.
PET produces images of physiological function and measures metabolic changes within
the body. One of PET's most important applications today is assisting physicians detect
cancer before structural changes become detectable through other anatomical imaging
techniques, such as X-ray, CT and MRI.
INSIGHT IMAGING can provide PET equipment and services on both a fixed-site and mobile basis to
meet the customers' clinical and business needs. Our mobile PET services provide
hospital and physician customers with a cost-effective means of providing PET services
to their patients. Many healthcare providers do not have the necessary patient volume
to support the purchase of a full-time dedicated PET scanner. With this in mind,
INSIGHT IMAGING'smobile PET scanners are generally scheduled among a group of hospitals
and/or physicians on a fee-for-service basis, thereby allowing our customers to
provide PET services at the customer's own location without the risk of starting up
a new service. By contracting for mobile PET services as needed, the hospital or
other customer eliminates the need for any up-front capital investment and avoids
purchasing equipment that may become obsolete. Once the mobile PET unit is in place,
INSIGHT IMAGING works closely with our customers to assist them in providing quality PET
services to their community.
In summary, INSIGHT IMAGING'smobile PET services provide the multiple benefits to hospitals
and physicians, including (i) access to state-of-the-art technology with no capital
expenditure; (ii) better control of patient disease management and early disease
detection; (iii) guidance from an experience PET provider for marketing, education
and training; (iv) highly-trained, certified technical staff; and (v) an extensive
